Hello everyone. I have a EPOX 8k5a2. I purchased it after my ecs k7s5a shorted out. I heard this was a good board. It had everything I needed. I told myself before that I was never going to buy an other VIA Chipset again. Well after reading this on anandtech about how the KT333 is very mature, I decided to give it a shot. I did not want an other motherboard with problems. Well things seem to be working ok, except for one thing. The motherboard is able to go into S3 (suspend to ram) standby where the only thing left powered is the memory. It allows you to set in BIOS which standby type you want (S1, S3, S1 & S3). The operating system I have is Win2k. I have all the updates installed. When I try to use S1 standby, things work fine. The fans are still off. When I use S3 standby the fans shut off. I though it was really cool. I press the power button to come out of standby and after about 1 minute a program becomes unstable, and after trying for a few seconds to control-alt-delete the whole computer hangs. It does this everytime. I have the latest BIOS. I have tried to revert the BIOS setting to default, to no avail. This was a clean install of Win2k.
Does anyone have any ideas? Have any of you other users of this mobo have any problems with S3 standby? If anyone need more info, please ask. Thanks for any help. Peace
