Epox 8k3a+ with XP2100 Temp @ 57º idle ?!

Umm this is weird, I have Xp2100 with the Coolermaster HSC-V62, the automatic series and asII
and Antec PLU660 TruePower case.
1) I did not overclock my CPU, therefore the temp should be well below 50 degree
2) Could the 4 hard drivers in my system make any difference.. the sys temp is @ 29 degree
3) I have 5fans, 1 @ HD, 1 at the bottom blowing air, 1 on the side, 1 on the back and 1 on the power supply, so i should have enough air ciruclation

so what could be wrong here... i just can't quit figure it out ..

I tried set the vcore to 1.70 to lower the temp, but i want to OC my baby to 2200 or 2300+,
so does anyone know why ........

Don't worry. The 8K3A+ is one of the very few boards that actually read from the thermal diode. Because of the this temps in the 50's for this boards are pretty good.

Yeah, my 8K3A runs@57c under SETI load using a GC68 w/52cfm fan and ASII, it was@64-66c with the 32.5cfm fan and still stable.

Just like everything with computers, reading from the Athlon XP thermal diode requires special math and calculations, which are simply wrong on the 8K3A bios..change to other bios' and they will be different in each one..I believe the 8/20/02 bios has the most efficient readings. Does the Epox 8K3A really read the internal diode? 🙂 I was told that it did not.

Actually the 8/20 just disables reading from the diode and goes back to doing it the old way which is really inaccurate.
