Hi -
I've recently built up a rig using an Epox 4PEA+ mb. It boots, loads, and runs WIN ME just fine with an ATI PCI video card. However, I got no output at all to the monitor when trying it out first with an ATI AIW 8500DV AGP card, not even during the POST. The little Epox led displays counted off each stage appropriately until it got to the "boot device seek" phase - but no video to the monitor. I tried removing and reseating the card (power unplugged, of coourse) but it made no difference. The system works fine with the older ATI PCI card, though. Epox suggested using the 9700(?) AIW card or any of a number of GeForce 4 cards. ANy suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Ed

May I suggest you carefully check the alignment of the agp slot to the back of your case. If it's off just a little, your agp video card won't seat properly, or pop out slightly when you tighten it down. You can try re-mounting your mobo, or bending the tab at the top of the 8500.

EdPep, I recall reading recently about 8500AIW issues, maybe this will help. Also, did you change the BIOS setting to recognize an AGP card first?

Ohhh...How nice of those dumb pricks!!!! They sending you the money now to buy that aiw card that is 200 dollars more then what you got??? That is a bunch of crap...RMA it if you can't work around it and don't deal with a company who has answers like that....The 8500 is not that far off of the latest stuff so there is no excuse...

Turn off 4x agp if you can...

Up Vagp if you can...

Boost agp/pci to above 66/33 specs if you can...

What is you r brand opf PSU??? Have you tried disabling the firewire on the vid card with the jumper switches??? try that and/or plug a floppy power connector into the card at the rear where the connector is...

I have had an issue with a much older epox i845d mobo and it was related with this card and acpi....if you can try disabling it...ofcourse when you do you need to reload windows
