Epox 4g4a mb vs. GigaByte 8IEXP: your thoughts

I'm looking to put together an intel P4, 2.4G system for video editing and it comes down to these two boards. Can someone please list the pros/cons of the Epox 4g4a and GigaByte 8IEXP?? I would like to overclock too. I know the Epox is i845G vs. i845E (Gigabyte) and the Gigabyte has the dual bios chips and easy to tune mb (which I like), but what other differences would make one board particularly better than the other? What about stability? What about Epox's tech support? I've actually never had any direct experience with Epox's products.

Thanks in advance.

I'm facing the same dilemma, so I'd like to hear what other people are saying as well. I thought I'd add that the gigabyte board does have firewire, which might be nice in your case. But other opinions are welcome, cause I want to order the parts today 🙂

The Epox is like $94 at mwave.com while the 8IEXP is $130 at newegg. Just my first reaction. 🙂

The gigabyte board has onboard raid though, so you should compare the 4g4a+, which is still like $117.

Good point.

I wish firewire would just make it into a South Bridge already...I want a board that's not expensive (like the 4G4A) with onboard USB2.0 and Firewire.

the 4g4a has had some great results, there is a long thread on it in the MOBO forum. I am planning on getting the 4G4AI (w/lan)
I currently have a 8kha+ and was impressed with build quality.

I see the Gigabyte 8IEXP as nice in that it comes with a lot of features. But it's an 845E chipset whereas the Epox is an 845G. The 'G' gives the 333 bus I've read. So, going with the new bus set might be nice. You're right, Mr. Bond, I'd like the onboard Firewire. But I already have a Firewire card I can move over, I guess. Anyway, I'm looking to order one today too.

So wadddya think guys??? Which one do you prefer?
