Does anybody know why the onboard lan wouldn't work? The drivers for it are installed, however when a network cable is hooked up to it, the device never realizes this. Winxp just keeps the "a network cable is disconnected" icon in the task bar. I have tried 2 different cables, and still nothing, it's rather annoying, i wish i would have checked this sooner when i could have rma'd if that is the problem. I don't know if it's a setting i'm missing or what. I'm trying to connect from a DSL modem (external) to the computer. Your help is appreciated.

Have you tried lowering your clock speed?

Remove the NIC thru device manager and try reinstalling the drivers manually. Don't let XP install the drivers. Try that.

You might need to use a cross over cable instead of a regular cable...

or a switch the status of the cable type on the back of the modem. what kind of modem is it? I know the 3com dsl modems have the switch at the back.

My on board NIC does not work when the PCI bus is not locked and run out of spec bus speed.
