I'm trying to read the manual on the memory configs and it's confusing the hell out of me. Is it possible to have (2) 512MB double-sided memory modules installed in a 4G4A i845G motherboard with no stability issues?

The Intel 845G chipset only supports four banks of memory. Only a motherboard with two memory slots could use two double-sided sticks of memory since there would be two banks per slot. The Epox only supports a double-sided DIMM in the first slot. The other two slots have 1 bank each, to total 4. I think Epox did this betting that people would want to use more single-sided DIMMs rather than 2 double-sided DIMMs.

Well, according to the manual, memory slots 2 & 3 share the second bank. First memory slot = Bank 1 = 0/1. Second & Third memory slot = Bank 2 = 2/3.

It also states this: "Once 2 pcs of double-side memory modules are used, please install them in DIMM 1 and DIMM 2 to prevent any instability issues"

So it does appear that using two DS sticks are possible

I just looked over the HUGE 4G4A thread and low and behold, I had asked this same question about 6 months ago. Here was the response:
NFS4 I currently have 2 sticks of 512 PC2700/DDR333 Samsung ram running in slots 1 and 2 with no problem. 1.6a @ 2.4 DDR @ 375
Oh by the way they are both double sided

I'm also running 2 sticks of Samsung 512 and I'm pretty sure they're double-sided. No problems or stability issues.
