ePower EP-500XP PSU ?

I've heard nothing about them. Looking at the Newegg link, I did note that the 5V line is 50A. Cheap PSUs hide wattage ratings here. Only a high end server PSU needs 50A on the 5V line and most of them top out at 40-45A.

Going to their website http://www.epowertec.com/power_ep550p5t1.html I found PSUs named after animals. Yikes! This scares me. Never buy a PSU named Deer, Puma or Lion.

Looking over the specs in pdf, no temp rating can be found. Are these PSUs rated at 40C like Fortron is, or 25C liks POS PSUs are??

Just buy a Fortron/Sparkle and don't look back with misty eyes for a chrome case and cheap modular 😉

@ GalvanizedYankee: That doesn't really look like it's the same one... 😕

I'd rather have a Fortron backing up my system... Dual 12V rails come in handy... However, BigBruin seems happy with it, but they take on the 550W version, and that one looks indeed pretty good...

D*mn, I think I heard of E-Power before... Now that I see Tagans on their site... Could it possibly be that they have the same internals? If so, they are very good, because Tagans are very high quality PSU's...

EDIT: That 500W E-Power isn't modular...

I've built a couple of rigs with the ePower (Tagan) PSU's which are made in Germany I believe and they are reliable but I too would prefer one from the FSP Group... However 3years on the warranty from Tagan is nice 😉

E-Power PSU's are very solid. They are very popular in Europe, just not so much here in the US for whatever reason.
Tagan's are a model of E-Power (just like the Puma), but are a seemingly more recognizable name in the US. You should have no worries about purchasing one.
