EPO 16x dvd drive for $9.99-AR at Outpost

wow, nice find. wonder if that rebate or even if this no name brand is reliable. Hmmm do I wanna risk buying junk and not getting my money? .... hmmm

Looks like a good deal, still not sure if I should get i though. They uped the ground shipping to $7.21 for me in California 🙁

check the forums , or ask ar cdrlabs or cdrinfo, those guys seem to know everythign about optical drives

I can add the item to my cart, but when I click on the rebate link/pic of the drive, I get:
"We're sorry, but there has been an error generated from our server. Please click here to return to shopping at Outpost."

Ordered one this morning, just received this email:
Thank you for your order J5161982****.

Please note that the item(s) listed below have been removed from
your order per your request to Customer Service or because the
item is no longer available from the manufacturer.
.

Bummer. I needed to replace a dead DVD drive in my daughter's computer.🙁

I saw a similar deal on an EPO 58X CD-ROM at the Fry's in Burbank last weekend. (As I recall, it was $14.99 after MIR.) Since I'd gone to Fry's to get a CD-ROM I was very tempted. However, I swore over a year ago that I would never buy another EPO drive. I used a few in systems I built prior to that. Their failure rate was simply unacceptable.

In other words, when it comes to an EPO product, caveat emptor![/b]

anyone get the rebate yet?

I tried calling the rebate fulfilment number, but i keep getting a answering message.

I'm still waiting on an $8 rebate for an EPO 16x DVD-ROM drive from CompUSA on 11-29-03. I've been given a check number and told it's "being mailed in two weeks" the last 3 times I called.

I would strongly recommend NOT buying an EPO product if you're doing so based on the rebate.

Joe

DaiShan, if you know where I one can buy a good DVD drive from this price please tell me. I've been looking for a cheep one for a while but no real deals.

Thanks

I have EPO 48x CD drive. That is my oldest drive in all of my cases. Still works fine, no problem. Just another Taiwanese manufacturer, I'd say. But who knows perhaps it is something sinister about it. 😀
