I can't seem to find anywhere where there is a breakdown of the Les Pauls standard vs custom vs classic. The only difference I see (besides the prices):

standard is chrome hardware, cream pickguard, chrome covered pickups
custom is gold hardware, black pickguard, gold covered pickups
classic is chrome hardware, black pickguard, open coil pickups

Can anyone tell me or point me to a site that says if the pickups are different, the woods, etc?

I saw those :) Guitar Center just got one it. I got used to the LP fat neck though, so it's hard to go back to the Tele's small rounded neck. I used to have a 72 Tele in high school.

I've been playing for 20+ years and for the price point of an Epiphone you could get an ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 which is by far a better instrument. Duncan or EMG pickups, Tone Pros bridge, nice flame or quilt top, abalone inlays.....dang nice.
