Elpida was formed from NEC, Hitachi, and Mitsubishi's DRAM businesses. Its a Japanese DRAM company with its own design center and fabs, supplying everything from wafers to complete chips to a number of companies including PSC. Genuine Elpida modules are as good as Micron, Samsung, Qmonda, and other first-tier OEM modules. However, just because it uses Elpida chips doesn't mean the modules are genuine Elpida.
