Liberal or conservative, we all have a serious brain defect. The key symptom is obvious and unmistakable. We all post repeatedly in P&N.
lol +1

As errors go, this is up there with "Everyone who purchased our "Learn Skydiving at Home", please change the first sentence of the second paragraph on page 103 from "State zip code" to "Pull rip cord."

It was a stupid result-driven study originally, and their error certainly does not make it any more valid. It does however make it even funnier.

You didn't know anything about it before accepting it? Go figure, lol. 😉

I didn't know anything about it either, to my recollection and I totally disagree with the notion the noted brain differences between liberals and conservatives that are physically evident via brain scans between people who report being liberal or conservative are factually there. I do not accept they are genetic in origin. I flat out reject that idea. I may be wrong but it will take a lot more genetic research to convince me of it.

The differences between liberal and conservative brains lies in a difference in the relative size of two separate parts of the brain, the amygdala, particularly the right amygdala and the cingulate, each of which involves areas of behavior that where largest also correspond to heightened functionality for those behaviors. The amygdala in part is active around the subject of fear and the cingulate in the suppression of fear that interferes with reasoning. Scientific research proceeded from these visible differences to the study of differences in behavior that one might hypothesize might flow from those different functions and differences in the way liberals and conservatives were found to correspond nicely with those assumptions. One can check the web for peer reviewed research of differences between liberal and conservative thinking.

In my opinion the differences in brains between liberals and conservatives lead to strengths and weaknesses of each according to the environmental reality in which they happen. For example it is terrific to be a team player when you belong to a tribe and terrible when you try to carve a tribe out of your nation and set it against those who are actually also a part of your team or should be seen that way. Liberals, do to their low reactivity to fear, may and can be suckered by naiveté. We are best when we work together respecting our respective strengths and weaknesses. Also almost everybody wants what is best, but may not be wise enough to know what it is. That most want the best is something so easy to forget when we demonize the other. Not a good thing to do and liberals lately seem to be getting a real handle on it.

By the way, I have always used the term brain defect to define the use of ones dominant thinking modality in a context where it does not apply. Where an external enemy vanishes like after the end of the cold war, conservatives turned their paranoia on the political competition, becoming quite insane in the process. This has resulted, as I have been saying since 1999, with an equal and opposite reaction, we create what we fear. Liberals have now become quite vicious and nasty to conservatives fulfilling their fears liberals are out to get them. It would be all quite comical if you were puppets instead of human beings created in the image of what the universe reflects.

An interesting opinion, but none of it is in accordance with my life experience. I grew up with good people, most started as liberal as any random collage kid today, but the vast majority drifted away from liberalism. They simply didn't like the place that road leads to. Not a single one of them hates liberals, not a single one of them wants to silence liberals, and not a single one of them wants anyone to be poor, or without health care and an education.

Perhaps I'm just lucky to know good people, or perhaps the world isn't as black and white as you see it.

Well I find your criticism difficult to understand because in the opinion I gave which you described as black and white, I described the strengths and weaknesses of both sides. I would have thought that by black and white, you would probably mean one side good and the other bad.
