I have the Evo 4G, but would ditch it for the Epic.... as soon as Cyanogen has CM6-RC1 ready for the Epic

I think the extra $50 is a ripoff. There are a lot of very powerful phones out there that are still $200. Granted nothing is as powerful as the hummingbird, but still.

I hope $250 doesn't become the norm.

If you are interested in winmo7 I would say skip it. The first gen of WinMo 7 is not going to be as good as the more mature Android platform, in fact it would have to take a miracle.

I would give winmo7 another extra year to iron out the wrinkles

Sprints been losing a lot of money over the past several quarters and they're most likely just looking for some ways to gain some extra cash. Personally if I was in the market I wouldn't let the extra $50 turn me off to the phone, but I do think it's a mistake to price higher than the iPhone.

Given Samsung's reputation for making shitty phones and then neither supporting them nor even admitting to any of the multitude of hardware problems they always have, I'd rather have the Evo.

Wasn't there already a thread here about people having GPS and data lockup issues with the Captivate and Vibrant? Same issues plagued the Samsung Moment when it came out. They only ever fixed the GPS.

The Evo is cheaper anyway and I rarely find myself using my hardware keyboard.

The first generation of Android wasn't mature either - didn't stop me from enjoying my G1.

Why was it Sprint that ordered up this beastly variant? They already have a headliner with the Evo. T-Mo has... uhh...

My guess is the 4G tax. Which they're not calling the 4G tax because not everyone has 4G available, but I'm guessing they want to eventually have most or all of their Android phones pulling in an extra $10/mo.

I don't understand why people keep claiming T-Mobile doesn't have a headliner Android phone. They had the first two Android phones in the US. Then they had the top of the line one a year later in the Nexus One. Now they have the Vibrant. They're also rumored to have a few more coming out soon. With the small exception of the two months when Droid was king, T-Mobile has consistently had the top of the line or extremely close to top of the line Android phone.

I wonder what the chances are of Sprint letting me upgrade 3 months early. Ok well I'm Premier so I should say 4 months earlier than my 12 month upgrade timing. The Palm Pre is just not cutting it and I'm ready for something new.

Tmobile got the best galaxy s version of all the US carriers with AT&T closely behind. :hmm: Sprint and Verizon versions are inferior. If you must have physical keyboard then Sprint is the best.

I don't agree mainly because I prefer a hardware keyboard. Opinions will vary!

Why do you say that? Do you just hate CDMA or is there another reason?

Major fail on Sprints part. These last couple years Verizon has proved time and again that consumers look at handset cost first and plan price second. I like the processor but not the keyboard. I am a big swype convert and will keep my slimmer phones from now on. I would love to be able to stick that hummingbird in my EVO though.
