So far I'm not having much luck oc'ing this system. Anyone with a similar setup that can post some bios settings for me?

Also for oc'ing is there anything in the bios that I need to turn off? I'm coming from a p5b deluxe and these bios settings are totally different. Even voltages have a different way of making changes.

I'm running a Q9550@4.0 on that board; the main thing I initially overlooked is the RAM settings. I think I set mine to 2.00B when nothing else seemed to work. Can you overclock with the software provided? Eztune or something like that I believe. Also set the voltages for your RAM to whatever they need to run at the increased speed.

I can overclock it, I just can figure which strap is best. Right now 4ghz, but running 5:6

I'm not above being a copy-cat-parasite-vampire for learning from others on OC settings, so if anyone cares to post settings for this board, I'll be very interested.

I hadn't planned to OC the board initially. I'm (slowly) re-building my file-server, using this board with a Conroe E6600 and some cheap 2x512MB (two kits) of OCZ XTC Platinum DDR2-800s. The board with processor, RAM and TR Ultima-90 cooler is all assembled -- waiting in a box while I cut some sheet metal to mod an old Gateway full-tower case for 120mm exhaust fan.

When I buy a motherboard for over-clocking, I do a lot of research among forums and enthusiast sites to gather information about settings -- before I put down my money.

This time, I only needed a not-too-expensive board with a good reputation, and OC'ing took a back seat.

Have you found any links or stickies that put the board through its OC'ing paces, with summaries of various settings?

i got a C1-stepping Q9550 to 4.15 GHz using 1.4125 vcc, 1.3 vtt, 1.45v pll, 0.860 ref (both), 1.30 v mch. when you are into the high FSBs, depending on the quality of your RAM you may need to strap them down to 90-94% of their rated frequency. i have corsair 1066 that should run at 5-5-5-5, but sometimes crashes on me so i run it at 1000. worth it for a good OC, though.

Try putting everything on Auto but the FSB then see how high it will go. Then look at CPU-Z and see what it's doing. That may give you an idea.

It may set the VTT and PLL too high. At the very least, set the vcore, VTT and PLL and leave the rest to auto.
