EP45-UD3R & E6750 Bios settings

I have a Ep45-ud3r board with an E6760. I'm over clocking to 8X400. I want to run the memory at 1:1 (ddr2 800) and in the bios settings there are a couple of options to do this.

2.00B (333mhz) or 2.00D (400mhz).

Which one should I set it to?

I am new to the UD3 scene too. Actually I just got out of my bios from fooling with that particular setting. I'd say it's the 2.00D (400) but someone correct me if i'm wrong.

In my experience, the correct answer is "whichever one works" 🙂

I was using the 2.00B up until I got to 400, then I switched to 2.00D for over 400 (currently at 450). If you're at exactly 400 I'm not sure which one is better.

Basically, the ABCD adjust some of the timings on the board, either looser or tighter. I don't think mine would even boot over 400 without the D.
 
I wonder if this is part of the solution to my problems with my E2140 @ 3.2.

In my BIOS version on my P35-DS3R v1.0, there's only 2.00, no letter after it. So I wonder which strap it's using.

they both work for me. I have used them both of a period of time. However, I have just had the bottom 2 gig (out of 4) of Crucial Ballistix go bad on me (only 4 months old). I was not sure if the maybe was the cause.

I would pretty much bet it's based on your memory. Since you are using PC800 then 2.00D is what you should use. The 2.00B is based on PC667 memory. I have the same board and use PC800 which is set to 2.00D. Now I am sure it will probably work with both as you are not over clocking the Ram, but if you were to, then as you increase, the strap with the corresponding letter is based on the default memory speed.

Having had a set of 2x1gb previously go bad (and the venerable D9GMH too), I've concluded that 2.0v and higher is just pushing it for Ballistix, no matter what the rated voltage is, considering that some mobos overvolt the RAM slots slightly. Their customer service and RMA process is terrific, but it's still a PITA, and it means I always have to keep a spare set around.

That's why on my latest 2x2gb set (which are rated for 4-4-4-12 @ 2.0v), I'm using 5-5-5-15 timings with just 1.85v...the absolute minimum to get the job done. They are only modestly warm to the touch, as opposed to my D9GMHs which ran hot with 2.05v @ 4-4-4-8. Sorry for the off-topic.
 
This is the 1st set of Ballistix 4-4-4-2 ddr2 800 2.0 to go bad on me with my new P45 board. I had the old P35c board and I went thru 6 sets of Ballistix 4-4-4-12 ddr2 800.

When I talked to Crucial today they said they knew that there 2.2v memory was incompatible with the p35 & x58 boards that's why they now make 2.0v.

The rma process is easy and they are nice but it is a PITA. I just hope it is not my new board that is the problem.
 
Getting back to the ops question, as it was already pointed out...use the 2.00D strapping. This will be good for a fsb up to 425 or so, depending on your memory.
 
2.00B = 333 strap 1:1
2.00D = 400 strap 1:1

Technically you should get better performance from using B, but i'd set both up, run Everest, & compare the two.

Also, as i've said a zillion times, 1:1 is the slowest ratio you can run...

You'd get better performance by loosening up to 5-5-5 & running 2.4B/D, 2.5, or 2.66B

On a funny note about the straps, you'd think the 400 strap would be easier to run than 333, yet when i had my UD3P, i could not POST over 467 MHz with 8 GB using the 400 (2.00D) strap...i had to switch to 333 (2.0B).
