Wondering, since you can get a "hot deal" on the X48-DS5 right now. link
Which makes it not much more than a UD3P. Benefits include full-on PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots for crossfire. But the question is, how well does the DS5 overclock? The UD3P is a proven excellent OCer, especially for 45nm quads.

If the price difference didn't matter, which board would you get?

I'd say go for the UD3P - its been proven time and time again. I'm getting a second for my NIB Q9650 24/7 machine just because.

Another vote for the P45. I kept a P45 board over a very good X48 board. Unnecessary PCIe lanes = extra heat generation.

The only reason I'd go for the X48 is if you're planning on pulling a 4870x2 Quad Crossfire or something that might pay a penalty for x8 + x8.

Otherwise, yeah, UD3P is a great board.
