EP-8RDA+ - Which AMD Processor should I Choose?

I have purchased an Epox 8RDA+ motherboard, a 512mb stick of Corsair PC-2700C2PT (cas 2), and want to get a processor in the $50 - $90 range.

I have 2 questions for you:

1) Is there a big difference in the Barton AMD Chips vs. the Throughbred? Should I save some money and buy a 2100 or 2200+ OR go to the Barton 2500 with 333mhz?

2) I have heard that low latency memory can sometimes be a problem with this Epox motherboard? Anyone have any thoughts on this? I did buy cas 2 high XMS Extreme memory and it would be a shame if this actually caused a problem.

Thanks for you ideas, thoughts, and opinions!

I think that most of the problems with low latency Corsair have been addressed by bios updates.

A Barton 2500+ is a great choice. If you are looking for maximum bang for the buck an Athlon XP Thoroughbred B JIUHB 1700+ is your best choice. It should overclock to 2.1 or 2.2 ghz easily.

Said what I was going to say for CPU's.

1700+ can be overclocked and can be had for less than $49. I have my 1700+ runing at 2600+ level.

If you want the next step up in my book, it would be the Barton 2500+. I have heard these clock well to 3000+ levels.

If you're o/cing, go with the barton 2500+

these things are averaging around 2.3 ghz with the extra 256K L2 cache
