EP-8KHa+ vs. AGP

It seems my two AGP cards don't fit into the AGP slot on my EP-8KHa+. There needs to be an indent notched into the sides of these AGP cards so that they can be loaded into the motherboard. Can I cut the notches myself or is this a sign that I have the wrong type of AGP cards (this sounds silly to me)?

Sounds like a Case problem to me.... Check if the AGP cards are seated all the way and check the notch. Don't cut out anything. You will lose warrenty on what ever your cutting. Something not cool if you break it on accident ;)

My 2 cents,

Yvo,

I don't quite follow you about it being a case issue. I can't get the AGP cards all the way into the motherboard AGP sockets because a notch is required that these two AGP cards lack.

this epox board has a white plastic retention clip which you must manipulate in order to get the AGP card into the slot. you pretty much need to move it out of the way (I think you push the right end DOWN) to put your card in, and then move it back up to clip the back "leg" of your card into the white clip.

yes, I'll call that an update :)

tornadobox, it's that 'plastic retention clip' that's getting in the way. Isn't there suposed to be a notch in my AGP cards for the clip to lock into?

older AGP cards won't have that little extra "leg" that the retention clip is supposted to latch on to...so you can still move the clip in such a way to allow the card to fit into the slot, it just won't clip onto anything really...should still work though.

I'll know in a week or two. I sent the motherboard back RMA because of some other issue, but I was still interested in the AGP issue. -Reader

Ahhh yes the retention clip.... lol I thought the front part (the metal bracket) wasn't lining up properly . Those retention clips can be realy nasty.

Hope you get a board that works now!
