I was disappointed in the thermaltake tmg-i1 that I received from newegg yesterday. The mounting legs wouldn't hold it to the mb so after I requested an rma I set out to find another replacement. Since I am moving my stuff to a new case I started looking at coolers that have a backplate since my mb would already be out of the case so I could mount it. I was leaning heavily towards one of the new breed of peltiers until I came across this air cooler from enzotech called the ultra-x http://www.enzotechnology.com/cpu.htm. I read several reviews of it and it always comes out on top so I found a vendor and ordered one. I rather like the fact that I won't have to rely on a tec to provide cooling. I wanted to know if any of you guys were running one of these and if you ran into any issues with it?

I had purchased one and ended up RMA'ing it because of it's massive size. The pictures don't do justice to the actual size of the beast. If you have the room in your case it will be fine, as its rated very highly in numerous reviews. Depending on the setup of your mobo, it could block your ram slots (it did on my Foxconn mobo).

It's a pretty good heatsink. FrostyTech did a good review I would check out.

Personally I would opt for Zalman or Thermalright.

Just read that review and posts about this hsf. It looks pretty good, I may get one to test out on my HTPC since it has a low enough profile to fit. What I am worried about is how it can block exhaust on some cases. The way the fan sits if you have smaller diameter exhaust fans-like in a HTPC case- the exhaust fan may be limited in its effectiveness.

I didn't have to a thing other than mount it onto the cpu. This thing has amazing cooling and I'm so glad that I got it. I'm not into trying to oc the hell out of my machine but I want my stuff to last as long as possible so I want it to run cool as possible. I also monitored my temps with core temp and under load the internal sensors stayed right around 120F with both cores maxed. The external sensor reported temps of around 93F so take it for what its worth. Before with the stock intel cooler my external temps were around 125F so you can see the difference. I didn't have core temp so I can't tell you what the internal temps were.
