envy24 or intel azalia?

Lifer
so i have a chaintech av710 card but my board already has intel's azalia HD audio with sigmatel 9223 codec (intel retail board).

is the av710 better? or is it not worth plugging in?

i had assumed it was better, but most of the people who buy it seem to have AMDs with awful ac'97 audio so it would be definitely better...

now i have no idea if it is better than the azalia, anyone have any experience with that?

i think the av710 is a pretty good card actually, i saw YOyoYOhowsdajello recommend it to some on these boards i think, you might wanna wait for him to see this thread, he is very knowledgable about audio equipment as are other members here

though the azalia HD audio is also not bad too

the best thing to do would be to just listen to both, see which you like the best, as with audio it will all be down to personal preference on what type of sound you like.

I don't have any firsthand experience with azalia solutions.

If you have it though, might as well plug it in and try it. If you have it set up with the higher quality DAC connected to the 7/8 jack I think you have a pretty solid solution there.

For gaming the HD audio solutions may give you better performance though vs the Chaintech card.
If it's music you're after, the Chaintech is probably going to sound better to you.

I used it almost exclusively in digital mode myself so while I had it I didn't do any extended listening of the analog output.

i am just using it through the 2 speaker system for music, i dont play games really. well not enough to care. the reason i got the av710 was that as far as i know its the only sound card that supports standard front mount audio.

oh well i guess ill check it out.
