Envision EFT920 flat screen 19" CRT monitor

I just bought the monitor above from Staples for $160 before tax. I plugged it in and it doesn't really look like that great a picture to me. It's not like I expected a reference monitor, but it's just replacing a Sylvania 19" CRT that went belly up, so it's not like my standards are so high. Anyone have experience with this monitor? It just seems to me the picture isn't that sharp in desktop mode. I installed the Envision drivers but I still don't notice any improvement. Any tips/tweaks I should try before deciding to return it?

While I have not used that particular model, I tend to steer clear fror Envision monitors in general. Having owned an LCD of theirs that failed after a year and was only decent performance-wise when funcitoning, I have a low opinion of their products. I have seen a few CRTs of theirs in the field and have not been impressed.

I think the real point is that if it doesn't look great to you out of the box, you should consider your eyes and/or enjoyment for however many years you choose to keep it. Good luck.
