Kirtland's Warbler
I remember reading about these in my bird books growing up. They were (still are) the rarest warbler in the U.S. They need a habitat that usually arises a few years after brush fires in this one area of Michigan. The solution then was for controlled, periodic burning of the area.
interesting fact: The cowbirds mentioned in this article were not originally parasitic. As people modified their habitat they eventually evolved into a parasitic species, laying their eggs in the nests of others.
