How do you guys search for jobs?

I'm using Monster.com and it's kind of blowing my self esteem. I always see requires blah blah blah that I don't have and 5+ years of experience.....

I've interned for two summers. I feel inexperienced and now I'm getting panic attacks that I won't be able to get or hold a job lol.

I hate life after college.

I'm a IS major so I'm interested more in functional things as opposed to being a developer.

The career office at your college should be helping you. Your school should also have job fairs a couple times a year.

I assume you just graduated in May? Were you looking for jobs before that?

you have to keep looking EVERYWHERE and kind of be creative. Life sucks after college, but it sucks even more with this bad job market. It took me 9 months to get a job and that is with 1.5 years intern experience.

They're helping but... I'm trying to find a job close to home instead of the Chicago area. I don't want to move out until I have cash saved and my debt is low.

I've found some places but I graduate in december and these places want jobs now....

don't limit yourself to just home. Your debt can always be repaid, but the amount of time you stay off the market can never be recovered. In this market, new grads have to kind of take what they can get.

Have you tried networking at all? You said you interned for 2 years. Surely there are people you've worked with who can help point you in the right direction, or maybe even put in a good word for you. It's not always what you know but who you know that gets you your first big-time job.

Craigslist is the best option for entry level jobs. The place is filled with them.

your university career fair/on-campus interviews/IS networking nights

that's the easiest way

I went to my school's job fair in October even though I wasn't graduating until May of the next year. Had I not went to that job fair or the spring one, I think I would've had a much harder time getting a job. But going to the job fair and it was easy as pie. If not the job fair, at least check in with your schools career center. Also around that time, a lot of companies were doing on campus interviews and presentations where you just had to sign up and had a good chance at getting an interview. I'm not sure why anyone would not use those resources. As you have found, it's much more difficult to get a job when you are graduated and left with using Monster and whatnot.

I have interned, but the place is 50 miles away... and if I were to move remotely close to it I'd be paying out the ass in rent, probably wouldn't even get to live comfortably because they pay low for the first 3 years.

And I kind of want to try another corporation. Just to have comparisons.
