The mantra conservatives will tell anyone and themselves: they believe they are surrounded by un-entitled folks "who want free stuff".

They are threatened by what they think is an "entitlement generation" because the idea that free stuff or other benefits are given to folks "who don't deserve it" obviously means that money is taken from them.

Problem: There is no such thing as an "entitlement generation".

It's a Conservative myth created right at the same time when the horrible, socialist Muslim birth-certificate faking president Obama was elected.

When someone points out that there are still waiters making a $1.50/hr base wage...and that someone points out this is not ok, or folks want minimal wage increased, or health insurance..it's is pointing out THE OBVIOUS, not demanding "free stuff".

When I say I think it's outrageous that a full-time job pays $7.50/hr while rent, doctor's costs etc. HAVE GONE UP...do I belong to the "entitlement generation"?

When I point out it's absurd that people need to pay good money to get an education and then finish school IN DEBT - am I an entitled brat?

* Decent wages have nothing to do with "entitlement"
* Affordable health care has nothing to do with entitlement
* Unemployment insurance/welfare (if not abused) has nothing to do with entitlement

Realize the mind-set of (many) Conservatives whose lives are often about "feeling threatened" that someone would take something from them (money, guns, liberties etc.). Then you will understand where this myth of the "entitlement generation" comes from and who spreads it and why.

THE IRONY: When a politician promises "lower taxes" no-one has a problem with it. This is funny because "lower taxes" are just another form of "free stuff".
But of course, if there are "lower taxes", there is nobody to blame or to be jealous of. With "free stuff" you can always blame hippies, the unemployed, "minorities", Jose or whoever and it resonates with miserable people like Conservatives who are often miserable because "someone is taking or might be taking" their money.

Surely you have facts to back up your opinion?

Problem: There is no such thing as an "entitlement generation".

It's a Conservative myth created right at the same time when the horrible, socialist Muslim birth-certificate faking president Obama was elected.

Until you have proof, your opinion is worth exactly the same as the opinion of the Conservative bogeyman you're railing against.

And it's funny that you call taking less away from someone is a "form of free stuff".

If I broke into your home and walked out with one of your televisions instead of both of them, would you say I had given you "free stuff" because I left you with some of your belongings?

Waiters make at least minimum wage. Some waiters do quite well. If this is the career you want then you need to step up your game so the higher end restaurants will hire you.

Minimum wage jobs are not meant to be careers. A business pays you what they think your labor is worth. Sorry dropping fries in oil or putting a burger together is not worth $15/hour

Going to a $40,000/year liberal arts school to become an English teacher? How about 2 years of community college, 2 years of a state school for a lot less money. Work instead of partying every weekend. Don't bitch about interest rates on student loans because basically someone is giving you money that is basically unsecured debt. Work your ass off in high school for scholarship money. graduate debt free and getting a $40,000/year teaching job won't be so stressful.

You do realize that a huge reason why college costs have gone up is because the government is giving away free, non underwritten, and now almost no payment required, student loans and grants to make it more "affordable"?

This is pretty much a proven thing. Everybody knows this.

Teaching is a bad example. Schools push for their teachers to continue getting more and more education, a masters or even a doctorate.

Waitstaff though? I'd love to see them making standard pay. Pay them regular wages and I'll happily stop tipping completely. They make a living wage and I get the food I ordered. Of course, when their income plummets because they used to make $50K/yr and now have to claim ALL of their income at tax time, and not cheat the government out of taxes on their tips, there will be a wailing and gnashing of teeth...

I can agree with this. However, you could choke a horse on all of the other BS that you are shoveling.

The pay structure of waiter/waitresses/hairdressers/etc. are structured that way. Boo-fucking-hoo, deal with it. Are you a waiter that has sour grapes about the pay structure? If you aren't a waiter, are you a union representative for them?

And minimum wage jobs (full-time or not) aren't meant to be careers. Burger-flipping may have morphed into that for some people but that doesn't mean businesses need to now start paying them more.

You know, after typing all that, I have come to the conclusion that your post must be satire. Excluding the part I quoted, the rest of what you said is stereotypical shit on what a conservative might think an entitled brat would think.

Promise and preach Trickle Down. When there is no trickling down, label those expecting it the entitlement generation.

Remember, it's not the rich's fault that you fell for their lies and deception - it's YOUR fault.

Oh, and if you try to do anything about it, you are a socialist that is out to hurt, harm and kill the American dream.

I thought you were told SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP., as you so eloquently put it in another thread.

Now, run home.....your mommie needs to change your poop-filled diaper before you smear more on your face.

Over the top, and too scatological. Please dial it back a bit.

The only entitlement they support is the rich entitled to low taxes and corporations entitled to low regulation. Big pharma entitled to blank Medicare checks. Big defense entitled to a war once every few years.

Let's also not forget about the very rich being enabled to hoard all of their riches overseas, being enabled to ship jobs overseas while importing cheap labor for jobs that can't be shipped out.

And all of these aforementioned entitlements for the rich end up taking away jobs from Americans who then have to seek assistance from the gov't to survive.

The very rich end up having their cake and gorging on it too, as they get cheap labor to exploit at home and abroad AND avoid paying their fair share of taxes while making the middle class and the poor take up the slack AND have the gov't give them corporate welfare while lowering their taxes to boot.

AND then they have the gov't pay for the welfare cases these rich folks created via their desire to choke the middle class out of existence and create an indentured class below them that are either forced to seek public assistance or accept depressed wages that cannot keep up with the cost of living.

AND THEN having hoarded most all of the wealth the nation has to offer, the very rich ALSO get to blame the shrinking middle class and the poor for making bad choices and not having personal responsibility, which irt to the latter, is something the rich is taking away from them in their effort to create the oligarchy they believe they were destined to create for themselves.

Seems like these days just wanting the same level of buying power year to year for doing your job is asking for "free stuff". If companies didn't charge more for the same products and services every year you could keep minimum wage the same forever for all I care.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! So now the question is why do suppose the costs of goods and services continue to go up year after year?

This cracks me up because I see it all the time from people who don't have two nickels to rub together.

My sister's kid is a perfect example. He is in his mid 20s and proudly supports Donald Trump for president and is constantly posting anti-welfare stuff on FB and calling out the freeloaders in our society yet he lives rent free in a house my sister and her husband walked away from 5+ years ago.

They just stopped paying the mortgage and now the son is living there. He works for himself doing lawncare, says he makes good money and supports his daughter but really he's full of shit because he didn't put that roof over his head and the bank will rip it out from under him at some point I'm sure.

I'm not even sure if he pays taxes... Meanwhile, I pay a fuckload of taxes. If anyone should be supporting Trump it should be me.

Because wages and standard of living are going up in the third world countries where we sent all our manufacturing jobs?

Inflation. But if wages stay the same, it's a back door pay cut. Complaining that people want "more" for doing the same work is really complaining that people want the "same". Is that so unreasonable? Buying power for the middle and working class only seem to stay the same if not go down while the prices of goods/services increases.

They DO make standard pay.

It's the fools that tell you otherwise that you MUST tip or else they wont be able to feed their starving children that keeps up this BS brigade of paying their wages.

Federal minimum wage applies to EVERYONE. The ONLY exception is waiters can have their minimum wage partially made up by tips. Hence, if no one tips, the employer (The restaurant) would need to provide give the remaining amount until federal minimum wage (at minimum) is given.

Are you arguing against inflation? That's a bad idea.

It's not even close to being as serious as a bitchy little forum brat telling someone else to "SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP.". That shit is comedy platinum.
