Entire New England Area apparently out of wii's..is a new version coming out?

So I've been looking for a Wii for two weeks, I've been to a few states, and every Best Buy, Target, Game Stop, Radio Shack, and electronics store in MA, CT, & RI is out of them. Best Buy even checked their stocks in other stores in the region and no one has any. They're all saying that they've been on order for several weeks but none are coming for some reason. Anyone think the price cut to 200 was to clear out old stock for a new version, maybe an HD compatible one to come out?
 
Still recovering from the Christmas rush? I doubt a new Wii is coming out. They've pretty much been sold out since the second week in December.
 
No, there aren't even credible rumors of the Wii HD having a final design yet, let alone being close to release. The Wii outsold the PS3 and 360 by a massive amount at xmas so it's still printing money.

FYI, amazon.com has them in stock.

That's what I find odd though; post-xmas there were plenty in stock, like in early January. I had told my gf I was getting her one for xmas, as soon as they were back in stock. They were in stock at both target & best buy but I didn't have my credit card on me. I went back 2 days later after work and they've been out ever since.


She actually suggested I just get one from amazon today, it's funny to hear someone else say it. So yeah, I'm getting a Wii, a 2nd controller, and Wii sports resort today.
 
I gave my Wii to my mom after she got wind of how fun Wii Sports bowling is... my mom and dad had a dinner party yesterday at their house and they told me their guests (all 50+ years old), played and loved the bowling 😛
 
I was actually at a Target yesterday and they were out of Wiis. Was also wondering if a new version was coming out--maybe not something huge like WiiHD, but just a new bundle, like a Wii with MotionPlus and Sports Resort, or something. Kinda weird because I think they were in stock throughout the holiday season. Before that I tried getting one at Walmart.com with BCB, but all their bundles were sold out (even the ones with crap games). I assumed before that it was because of a BCB surge in orders, but maybe something else is afoot . . .
