Entire 800th Military Police Brigade now ineligible for Bronze Star...

Good.

The few always ruin it for the many. Hopefully they'll learn their lesson, especially after all the scorn from their peers.

Ughh. Bad move IMO. Punish the units within the brigade, not the entire brigade. A lot of the men and women over there that were nominated do deserve the Bronze Star, but those asshats/beasts went and ruined it for the others.

I really, really, really hope we don't alienate the troops even more after this.

First off, I have no idea how big a brigade is, nor how many duties the personnel of the brigade would oversee.

If a brigade is a small enough unit that all of them would likely know of the abuses going on, I tend to sympathize with the majority here: those who tolerated treating prisoners in a manner that is clearly illegal (can you say war crimes?) without speaking up are just as guilty as those who performed the acts.

This brigade is approx 2800 members large.

Remember gomer getting beat by soaps in full metal jacket?

perhaps someone in the brigade will start to rat some people out.

the US Military already has a hard time with retention and blowing the chance for the honest peoples' chance to get medals really puts a damper on coming back.

Good. Consider the lack of recruiting and retention a democratic check against unpopular wars.

I don't think this whole thing is an issue at all. It's not like they were being tortured or physically abused. A little bit of mind games is no big deal.

Whoo hoo! This is the exact kind of disciplinary approach I remember that mustached woman I had as a teacher trying to implement on my class in grade 6. It didn't work then, and won't work here. It will piss off everybody involved. Great fvcking job.

Rape, beatings, yeah that isn't physical abuse at all.

Everyone ranting about this issue needs to stop, read the 40 or 50 page report, watch C-SPAN2 for a few hours, then post.
40-50 pages? Damn man, I'd just rather not get involved 😉

That's just the summary without the annexes (which were removed).
