Construction isn't bad for the price, but with the EOS 550D it is clear that you're paying for the features, not the build quality.

Why I opted for the 40D or similar bodies. But, I won't deny the great features at a great price on the T2i.

That new LCD screen looks very very nice though. :)

Looks like the best camera for under $1000 right now.

90% of the 7D for less than half the price.

90% of the 7D for less than half the price.

except:
better AF system, 19 all cross point sensors
lens micro focus adjust
better ergonomics (might not be a plus for smaller hands i guess)
magnesium body with weather seal
back wheel and mini joystick
top lcd screen
3 custom modes on dial
8 frames/sec burst
longer rated shutter life
larger, brighter and 100% viewfinder with grid overlays
wireless flash controller
1/8000 shutter speed
mRAW, sRAW (i suppose some people use these)
digital level in viewfinder or lcd

i may have missed a few, but if you don't care for any of the above, then yes, get the t2i

Same here. Some people think these features aren't important. Would call them entry level DSLR users. And rightly so, since they "entry" level DSLR fits their needs. Just 2 different animals.

Fixed. I mean, of course a camera that costs twice as much has better features. This model is aimed at a different buyer.

yes, that is right. but to say the t2i has 90% of the 7D feature for half the price is simply incorrect.

Medium format DSLRs that cost more than your car are missing most of those features too. There's more to photography than bursting on a moving animal or athlete.
