Actually... there is, from the spoilers.

Oh yeah, from what I caught in the spoilers there are some T&A scenes.

Vulcan boobies look a lot like human boobies

Ratings are based entirely on Neilson households. If you're not one of them, then it doesn't matter what you watch, it doesn't count towards ratings.

The Neilsons are used to extrapolate advertising costs for the advertisers. AFAIK, every viewer counts when you tally it towards the final number of viewers. Neilson is just one measurement of ratings, as there are others.

But frankly, I dont know much about the rating system in general, not just the Neilsons. BTW, anyone here have a Neilson box? 😀

Riddle me this then: If every viewer counts toward the ratings, explain to me how the TV station is able to determine thenumber of people watching it? Keep in mind the vast amount of users of satellite TV, analog cable, and over the air broadcasting.

As I said, I know little about how the rating system operates. Neilson usually gives percentage rankings. Futoncritic, another very reliable source gives actual viewers numbers in the range of hundred-thousands(for major shows only).

I get it from an antenna so I don't count.

Each episode costs around 6 million to make, so thats about 156 million per season. I wonder how much they get in advertising revenue and if they consider how much they will sell the shows for a couple of years later. I forget what they call that.

Here's a link explaining how all the sites are deriving thier information from 10,000 households with neilson boxes in them

Each episode actually averages $2million. Broken Bow, the premiere, cost between $10-12 million. That was mostly because they had to make the sets and most of the props from scratch, which is reusable. When a network television series is sold for broadcast rights, it is called syndication.

But imagine how much they make from DVD sales. 😛

Between initial advert revenue, syndication rights revenue, product/toy revenue, then DVD revenue... They're making bank!

M4H  Spock

Mmm, that monotone voice, the sexy logic ... if I were gay, I'd hit it.

I wonder if T'Pol only puts out once every seven years? Talk about cruel justice.

Better tonight...

I liked this episode. It went back to the roots of the gritty first contacts. I guess they weren't kidding on the sexuality being ramped up. And that sniper scene with the rescue was pretty cool.

I liked it. That whole council thing seems interesting. I love long developing plots (farscape!). I hope they stick with the plot, and not have an alien of the week episode or some crap every week. It was a nice change of attitude for star trek, with them going down to the slave labor camp and not really trying to rescue them or anything.

Yeah, it just ended....

I bet that motivated some of the little peckers around this place. 😉

Enterprise was good. I thought it was going to be better from all the build up to the season opener.

Jake 2.0. I'm retracting my earlier statement. It was a pretty good show. He was infuriating at times trying to get used to some of his abilities. But I suppose if something like that were to happen to me in real life, I'd probably be confused and disoriented about it for awhile as well.
