ok, as a last resort I will unleash the SDF-1. The main gun should be able to take out both ships at once.

Either that or the Daedalus Maneuver.

ST tech level is just so far ahead of SW's. the weapons look weak but it just means they got solid defenses.

but a mere Culture General Contact Unit could take them both.

considering the lack of offensive capabilities on a solid state drive, i'm gonna have to go with the enterprise.
What did the title say before he edited it? "Battleship Mtron"?

he listed SSD which, as all techies know, meant Solid State Device, aka newer gen of hard drives.

This works great in the gunship too.
Well sure, that's dandy, assuming the target's engines are offline and it's locked immobile in a tractor beam. The maneuverability of the Y-wings was just terrible though, which tends to make it difficult to keep a target lined up, assuming its pilot has any sense of self-preservation.

B Wing? That is a capital ship attack platform. Think F-15E. Give me a TIE Defender and I will smoke your rebel scum butts.

And the term you are looking for with the Y-Wing is SLUF. Slow Little Ugly Forker. (or FLUF - Fat.. same). Usually reserved for the B-737, but Y-Wings deserve it.

And again... it is about weapons on target. That is why the Defiance is a good thing. That is why I love the new Star Trek (the Romulan MIRV style torpedoes). It has been a huge problem with Sci-Fi movies. All the space battles with what amounts to single shot rifles. Oh wow, the Enterprise fired "THREE" photon torpedoes. OMG... You want to take out a capital ship? Launch a fleet salvo of 5000 missles with ECM and counter-counter packages inserted. That is why I mentioned Honor Harrington earlier. Weber has it right, ballistic battles with massive firepower. Targeted, none of the SW - ST capital ships are designed to handle massive strikes. And the Empire did one worse never assuming that anyone could fly a snub fighter inside its battery and shield defenses.
