If you're going to have a national championship game with no playoffs, then that national championship game should be between the two best teams in the country. Not the best team in the country and the best team in the country that is in a different conference. If the best two teams in the country are in the same conference, so be it. If they don't want it to be that way, they ought to change the rules.

Mugs, you're one of my favorite posters here and although we have different ideas for who should be playing Ohio State in the title game, I have to agree. The 2 best teams should play eachother. If Florida would have lost, I would have no problem with Michigan playing Ohio State. But right now, I think the pollsters would have to give Florida some points for playing in a tough conference championship game and winning it.

I think the only argument Michigan has is that their loss is to #1 Ohio State, whereas Florida's only was to #11 Auburn.

Strength of schedule, OTOH, would have to go to Florida for beating Tennessee, Arkansas, and LSU, which are 3 teams that are much better than Michigan's Notre Dame and Wisconsin quality wins.

I'm going to have to disagree with Tennesse, Arkansas, and LSU all being better quality wins than a win over Wisconsin...

Then again I'm a bit biased.

Either way I'd rather see an OSU vs Florida national championship.

The bottom line is, anyone who watched that debacle of an SEC championship game and feels that Florida is a NC-caliber team is smoking something. 2 gimmick offenses going up against each other in a mistake-ridden slopfest with no team clearly playing better than the other (just one f*cking up slightly less), and this is the game that determines Florida as the 2nd best team in the country? The only thing Florida has that's NC caliber is its kick blocking teams.

Ridiculous that the SEC can be called the best conference in the country when its #2 team has a division 2 QB at best.

Yep. Problem is, Michigan has no control over it. The B10 doesn't allow any games after Thanksgiving, most likely because the weather in the midwest goes downhill fast after that point.

I'm going to interject my point, and hopefully not respond to any arguments: Michigan is the second-best team in America. They deserve Round 2 vs. the Bucks.

We will never know really. I personally think the big 10 is weak this year if you can have 2 teams make it through with one loss and 1 undefeated. I'm sure Michigan and Ohio State are good but the only way we can find out is by watching them play teams from another conference. That's the problem with the possibility of a rematch. We now know that Texas was not really that good and we also know that Notre Dame is overrated. This is why we need a playoff and why two people from the same conference should never meet in the final game of the current system.

There should never be a rematch in NCAA football.

It is disgusting and WILL bring down the whole college football market.

Michigan had their shot and blew it very early in the game (VERY early).

But having Michigan sit back and do nothing this week and still getting a shot at the national champ game against a team they already lost to is just phucking horrendous.

boohoo, michigan lost a coach that hasn't worked in years..... it's no reason for them to play the same team again in the (sorry for the caps, but it's that important) THE NATIONAL PHUCKING CHAMPIONSHIP.

You don't get a rematch in the most important game of the season.

michigan sympathizers might as well live like they get handouts to get by.... phuckign hobos.

So Michigan lost by 3 points and somehow they were out of the game from the beginning? I see. Make no mistake. Michigan lost by 3 point AWAY AT THEIR ARCH RIVALS. Thats a statisical tie! Now go back to your fema trailor.

I just also want to say that it's BS that Wisconsin doesn't even get a chance at a BCS bowl. The BCS needs to fix that.

The school presidents all voted to only allow a max of 2 teams per conference. There are a lot of problems with the BCS, but this ain't one of them. There's gotta be a balance between the conferences and the BCS games. Otherwise conferences need to be simply eliminated.

Florida is NOT the no. 2 team in the country. They were a beneficiary of luck and stupid play by their opponent.

If not for an idea by an Arkansas punt returner about as good as greenlighting Ishtar, Florida would have had a great time in the Capital One Bowl.

No, when you have to choose between Florida and Michigan, you have to look into those wins. And you also look into their one loss.

Statistics aside, Michigan already had a shot at the top dogs, it's Florida's turn.

Anyone who votes for Florida strictly because Michigan has already played OSU doesn't deserve to vote.

OSU barely won many of their games, even to cupcake teams, on their way to a 2002 national championship.

Thus I believe Florida deserves a shot, but I also believe the real championship game was played and decided two weeks ago.

Let the SEC try... They haven't done THAT badly in bowl games of late. Give them a shot.

No one is giving Florida anything. They earned the right to be included in this conversation, as did Michigan. Both Michigan and Florida have a legitimate claim to #2.

Whoever gets left out tonight has every right to be upset.

Uhhh, except UCLA isn't even ranked and OSU is #1. I think that makes a bit of a difference, don't you?
