Enter the Matrix Safe Mode?

Every time I try loading any level causes my WinXP to crash out to blue screen then restarts my computer. With Enter the Matrix 1.5.2, there's a new option of "Safe Mode" which works. Does anyone know what the settings are in "Safe Mode"? Is it software rendering or what? I think it's a problem with my video card, and ATI Radeon Mobility 7500. I've already updated the drivers.

I've searched everywhere and I can't find out exactly what Safe Mode is.

Remember, I'm asking about the game's "Safe Mode" and not about Windows Safe Mode.
