<< It seems you only got half of it. >>

I was actually referring to George Harrison pulling out his funding to Enron shortly before his death

<<

<< i smell foul play.

i just dont see why a guy who resigned in may would feel guilty enough to kill himself? but then again i havent really been following this enron thing.
>>

Damn right foul play. The guy had 22 million in the bank after he cashed in all his stocks. Why the hell would you kill yourself? Guilty concious? Not likely...I'd be living on a beach in Grand Caymen.

Unless I'm missing something and he was pennyless. Then yeah, I guess suicide seems like a good "out"
>>

Could be afraid of jail time.

I have a good quote relating to this that I'll post later.

I could imagine the boardroom discussion late last year:

"Smith, I want you to go around and order all incriminating documentation be shredded."
"Ok."
"Johnson, I want you to go around and encourage every employee to buy stock now."
"Got it."
"Jones, I want you to visit our people in DC and see if they can get us out of this mess."
"Done."
"Baxter, I want you to cash out and kill yourself."
"What????"
"We need a scapegoat. CAN'T YOU EVEN FOLLOW SIMPLE ORDERS? You *do* want a good performance appraisal next year, don't you?"

Wow I just read this story. That is terrible. I worked for Enron in 2000, glad I got out when I did!

As far as the badges go, they don't take them back, they just deactivate them. Each person is checked when entering the building. The badge codes are changed every 90 days or so anyway.

Afraid of jail time? Yeah right! These executives are just gonna get slaps on the wrist after they use a paltry sum of the millions they made on the stock on $$$ lawyers. I really don't think this was a simple suicide, it's very easy to make it look like a suicide. Especially the way he was found...:Q

<< I'm surprised at how many people make fun of this situation... It's sad when someone dies (especially suicide) WHATEVER the reason. >>

Was it sad when Hitler died?

Sgt. Truman Body of Sugar Land, Texas police department, said police discovered J. Clifford Baxter?s body on routine patrol early Friday.

Did Sgt. Body discover the body? and if so what exactly does that mean.... :)

I don't think anyone who would use the phrase, ?we will implode in a wave of accounting scandals? should be in management of a multi-billion dollar company anyway.... I mean talked about your mixed metaphors... jesus stop embezzling and read a freaking book.

He left a suicide note. Hmmm, I wonder what it says. I doubt it just says, "I've decided to kill myself." The end. From what I understand this man was very intelligent, a perfectionist and very dissatisfied in the way the accounting was done at Enron. Did he blow the whistle on a few more people? This could turn into a bigger scandal, of course that's if Enron or some government official doesn't shred the suicide note first.

this guy was telling them about it... he resigned way before the collapse...

they weren't embezzellng, they were just hiding ther debt off their books. i expect the practice will probably be outlawed. at least to the extent possible.
