noobs. when filming for a music video, you don't need to go all out with the singing. If he only mouthed the words, ATOT would think he really is a mute.

I never buy those kinds of arguments. It's the same as when people make horrible spelling/grammar mistakes in emails/posts and say, "I don't review my posts."

If you have talent and/or you're educated, it's not like you simply turn it off when the situation permits. Obviously you might not be at your best, but when it's absolutely horrible there's little excuse, imo.
