IMO about 75% of the people that regularly bash NJ have probably never even been here. NJ has gorgeous areas, it's not all the Turnpike.

The same is true of all the other states that ignorant people bash. Some states just have bad perceptions, and NJ is one of them. It's going to be hard to change public opinion.

They're not gorgeous, the only look good when compared to the turnpike.

I'm kinda glad a lot of people don't like NJ, there are too many people moving here as it is.

It may have some nice areas I?ve mainly only been to Moorestown (work travel) but you can't pump your own gas, you got the jug handles, and high taxes. What is there to like?

Bergen County is one of the richest counties in the entire US. If you are a car enthusiast, you will see tons of nice cars here. On the same day I got my brand new car, I saw an orange Lambo Murceliago (sp) and a yellow one. I must see an average of 2 of the new M5s here a day.

This part of NJ is definitely not one to be looked down on.

What is there to like about pumping your own gas? We still have some of the lowest gas of any populated state in the country.

I live in PA. That makes me an expert on how much NJ sucks. Nothing good has come from your state since the telephone.

Dumb New Jersey Laws

# You cannot pump your own gas. All gas stations are full service and full service only.
# On a highway you can not park under a bridge.
# It is against the law for a man to knit during the fishing season.
# It is against the law to "frown" at a police officer.
# If you have been convicted of driving while intoxicated, you may never again apply for personalized license plates.
# Car dealerships are forbidden from opening on Sunday.
# You may not slurp your soup.
# Automobiles are not to pass horse drawn carriages on the street.
# It is illegal to delay or detain a homing pigeon.

I have a locking gas cap because most domestics don't have secure gas tanks and I'll be damned if I'm going to hand my keys to a fvcking immigrant. Locking gas caps take some practice to get on and off without breaking. I can't even trust one of those jerks to tighten it properly. If I'm taking the cap off and putting it back on, why can't I run the pump too? While I'm out there, I prefer to pump my own gas. It also takes half the time because gas station attendants are such lazy, slow grabastic pieces of sh!t :|

Dude, I worked in the Philly area for 2 years. Upper Darby, Chester, South Philly are all such gorgeous areas. Every state has it's good parts and it's bad parts.

I dont disagree with you at all. NJ has a lot of really great looking parts, just like PA out in Lancaster county. NJ also has CAMDEN. YOU LOOSE.

It's not the scenery that I have the biggest problem with. It's the people. NJ drivers are TERRIBLE. The only car accident I was ever in involved a NJ driver who stopped in the middle of a clover leaf in NJ in the middle of the highway in a completley obstructed-view construction zone. NJ drivers are morons. No exceptions. Not to say all PA drivers are perfect, but there is no such thing as a good NJ driver.

I don't know it just felt strange sitting in my car while some guy pumps my gas. I just want to get in pump it and get out (like other things I do)!

You are also forgetting how much time you waste waiting for the attendant to get his or her sh!t together. I swear I spend 2x as long to get gas from an NJ station than from a PA station. I have schedules to keep people!

Same goes for Morris County. Drive through residential areas Chatham or Mendham and you'll see why.

Yup. My ex-boss lived in Chatham. Now he lives in Short Hills. I'd actually say Morris is better because in Bergen, all the stores are closed on Sunday because of those stupid laws.

Camden is about an inch across the water from the Philly ghettos, so it's understandable. :p
Seriously, Camden sucks, Newark sucks, there are many parts that suck. Like everywhere else in the world.
Many NJ drivers do suck, as do many PA drivers. Apparently you've never driven in Brooklyn or Manhattan.
