My processor has been getting temps as high as 67 deg C. This is not good.
I have the heatsink and fan that come with the processor, and the front case fan that came with the case. The system sits right by my head, so sound is an issue for me. I'm wondering what to do, and from reading the forums, it seems like views on HSFs and fans are varied. I'm looking to spend $50-60 total. Any help you can give would be great.

I've got that case and an Athlon 1.33Ghz @ 1.5GHz. I use a GlobalWin CAK-38 and keep the side panel off (but only until I get a couple of case fans to mod the side panel). My idle temperature is usually about 48 degrees Celsius and full load never goes above 55 degrees Celsius. My motherboard is an Asus A7V-133.

You're not going to get good cooling without a greater amount of sound. Greater CFM usually means greater DBA. Your best bet would be to get a better heatsink/fan and then move the case so that it isn't sitting right beside your head.

Do you have a exhaust fan placed on the back of the case? They have a spot in the rear for a 80mm fan. You may want to place a 80mm fan there and slap a 92mm fan for intake, which will fit without any modifications to the case.

I also have a 1.33 T-Bird at 1.54GHz in the same case. My average idle cpu temps are 51-54c using a Volcano II HSF. And that's with several case mods, including 2 blowholes. I ordered a Thermalright SK6 heatsink yesterday from plycon. That should help reduce the temps.

AmazonRasta: You're right on with your assessment of the Volcano II. I planned to use it on another project but didn't need it. So, it was available when I got my new mobo and CPU and I put it to use.

I just got my new enlight 7237 case, and the intake fan that came with it is very low rpm and very low cfm. Changing it out was my first priority.
That is probably the best place for you to start. And adding an exhaust fan at the rear is very good advice.

What kind of fans should I get? I really can't move my CPU, so what fans/HSF's are good while still being quiet? I do plan on getting a fan for exaust, but I should replace the front fan too? Thanks for your help.

this is what im going to do:

move the front fan to back after i cut out the grates, replace those with a wire grill. then i am going to put a 92mm panaflo in front, and then drill the holes in the front bezel bigger. for hsf i am going to use a globalwin FOP32-1
