Enlarging a Partition on a IBM 75GXP- EDIT SOLVED

Now can anyone think of a good way to increase a partitions size from 3 to 4 gigs (XP needs a bit more room than my 2k install did. ( i can't think of one thats free)

Currently my drive looks like this

3004 (windows drive)
10008 (unpartitioned space)
5000 (drive)
5000 (drive)
6250 (drive)

Essentally i want to pull a gig off the unpartioned space and give it to my windows "partition", do-able?

Also if impossiable does IBM have a utiltiy to swipe and drive and its MBR and start from scratch (with a 4gig OS part.)

First, what version of W2K are you running? If it's Pro then there isn't anything I could suggest. With W2K Server there are options. Is there a lot of data on the 'drive'? BTW, why are you calling partitions 'drive'? Is it because you are thinking of Logical Drives on an Extended Partition?

If there is no data on the 10008, 5000, 5000, and 6250 drives or there is data but can be removed, you may want to try a Linux-related program called fips. Use this program at your own risk. I take no responsability for its existance to you. You will also need to make sure the windows swap file is removed prior to using fips. I've successfully used fips on Win9x systems to shrink a partition to make room for Linux, but this involved defragging the disk, and then removing the swap file before partition shrinkage.

Good luck!

I'll See what i can do, oh and ya i was using the term "Drive" for Logical drives on the ext.partition)

Was professional, then switched to XP 2600, but found my "OS" partition was abit too small...So i need to make it a tad bit bigger

I never exceed 1 partition per drive. I'd rather loose the space than have to hastle with mulitple partitions. Call me lazy. 😀
