Eninem - A Moral Value Corrupter?

Do you think these people are corrupters of moral values? Do you think these rappers' lyrics are corruptining today's youth?

Personally, I think they are.

Thoughts? Opinions?
 
no. You know what corrupts my morals? TV. Despite listening 24/7 to people rapping about rape, money, cars, hoes, unprotected sex, killing things, etc. i have yet to do any of those, or get a really nice car, earn a lot of money, etc.

In my opinion people that blame rappers for corrupting people are as bad as the ones who blame video games for increasing violence. Tell the parents to do their jobs. Mine did (and still are) doing a damn good one, and i'm as hardcore a rap fan as they come. If anything, rappers bring out the corruption in our society, the stuff the government tries to hide.

If your values and morals are easily corrupted by rappers then you have some larger issues than what music/artist you're listening to.

Most parents don't know how to raise their kids. Give me a break, parents need to shape up. I know some 10 year olds' who listen to Eninem... Tell me, there is something wrong with that, is there not?

BTW, I voted No. I agree that if you go out and do whatever you hear someone else talking/singing about, you've got larger issues.
 
Eninem's whole shtick seems to be pissing off Christian conservative types, and his fans love him for it. If those people learned to start ignoring them, his popularity would disappear in a matter of weeks.

Minus the hate speech and the hype, Eninem is nothing more than a foul-mouthed Vanilla Ice. We all know how HIS career turned out.
 
I think people like him are influential for the weak minded and children. Unfortunately those are the ones who have least control over their actions.

well, first his name is Eminem.

a 10 year old kid listening to eminem? Nothing wrong with that as far as i can see. America does a whole lot of crap wrong. In germany, kids are brought up learning the responsibilities of drinking alcohol. When's the last time you heard of a huge alcohol problem in germany? Kids learn how to respect the dangers of it, and take responsibilities for their own actions. Granted, these two things aren't the same things, but its similar in a way.

So back to your question, again I don't think there's anything wrong with eminem. most rappers go so fast you can't even hear what they are saying. They have to make the words rhyme so it sounds fluid, and in doing that mix up a lot of the words. Personally, my idea of a "sick" rap song is one with a catchy beat. Maybe today's generation of rappers have nothing to rap about but bad stuff, but like wolfman said, if u go out and do the crap the rappers talk about, u have problems and its not because of rappers.

edit: So realizing that the part about the government wasn't explained... I think a part of the reason kids do this stuff is because the government views eminem as bad, so the kids love him. Its all part of the "they said not to do this, so i'm going to do it" thing. The government needs to take control of its own first (adultry, racism, corruption in general), then they can start bashing entertainers.

All I have to say is Eninem is a bad person; He is a huge scumbag, who thinks he is way too cool. He should have been disciplined more as a child.

There is a whole lot wrong with a 10 year old listening to rap. Kids are learning about things they shouldn't be.

You want to know where I learned the majority of stuff about sex and profanity? School. If you want ur kid to turn out to be a nerdy little snot that gets picked on by everyone, then lock him up in the basement so dear god he isn't exposed to cuss words and sex. In the last rolling stones magazine, there's an article about crystal meth. There are freakin 5th graders using that stuff. America has a crisis on its hand, but hey, if it improves the economy, it can't be bad right? I haven't walked down the hall between classes at school without hearing the f word, hearing things such as slut or whore, or hearing some kid joke about bl**jobs since 6th grade.

have you actually listened to an album of his, or are you just going off of what you've heard other people say? eminem is one of the best lyricists out there... i'm sure some of fans are just there because they have issues and want to f*ck authority or something, but you can't deny his talent. i'd like to see you try come up with better lyrics.
 
No not really, I don't think there's anyone who would strive to be like him at this point, he's all talk. All he has is his music which even alot of rap listeners despise and a bad attitude. Yeah he's got a fat movie check and money in the bank, but there are probably more people that hate him than like him in this country at this point, which would be no fun IMO. Whenever I see his face I always think of him as that punk asshole in school that always pisses students off and picks fights with teachers. I'm not putting anyone down who likes his music, if you like it you like it, I just don't think he's done anything that stands out enough to leave a real life altering impression on anyone or anything(unless that person has a serious mental problem). In every one of his documenteries(sp) he's picked a fight with the guy asking questions, "why are you yelling at me?, I don't appreiciate you yelling at me......, I'll leave right now, is that what you want?". Maybe he'll calm down some day.

How someone should make money?

How people should discipline their children?

Just because you don't like him doesn't make him a bad person. But hey, whatever...atleast spell his name right if you're gonna talk smack 😉
 
Too many different culture with different sets of values and laws, its quite impossible to impose one standard on them all. And to answer the thread's question, yes, I think Eminem & most rapper are a bad influence. Same thing with a lot of the tv shows out there.
 
i don't mean to say that rap is the godsend and is going to revolutionize our country. I'm not an eminem worshipper as one idiot proclaimed awhile ago. I used to be against rap. I realize that i'm in the overwhelming minority group when i say i listen to rap but don't do drugs or drink or lay up with a hooker every other night. Do I think rap is the cause? no. Do i think it contributes? definitely. Should it be banned? No. Is it the main reason? no. Do we have other stuff to worry about? Yes, mainly drugs. Do rappers use drugs? Yes.

Do rock bands use drugs? Yes
Doesn't pretty much everyone use drugs? A hell lot of people do. I have people in my ceramics class who sell drugs to their own freakin parents.
