@TheyCallMeSAK
Make sure to run the test optimized apps posted on the enigma forums, they give me an 41% speed increase on my A64 X2!

Hmm.. sounds interesting. I like a good puzzle or mystery, so I'm downloading the client now. And I know a few military history buffs that might be interested too. :D

Great work, SAK and other Enigma fans. :D

I have a small article about this project from a Dutch computer magazine.
I will put it online so you can 'read' it in Dutch. [And for the few who can't read Dutch I'll toss in an English translation. ;) ]

Got my P4 2.8 on the project now. It's set to be splitting time 50/50 with Rosetta@Home, although at the moment the Enigma project is saying there's no work to be sent.

One of my rigs wasn't snatching any work in this project, for whatever reason. I'm gonna go check on it now and see if it's crunching happily yet.

Thanks for the info about the optimized clients...I'm going to check that out. Is there only ONE optimized client available? Here: http://www.enigmaathome.net/forum_thread.php?id=17#150

Or are there others? Which would you recommend for an Intel Core2Quad? I'll give this one a try, but I really don't know how to benchmark it in enigma. I'll just have to keep an eye on my stats and see if I notice a change on this computer.

Thanks for helping out, NWM and others :D We've got 14 members now, and indeed we're ranked #11 overall and moving up quickly. We should be top 10 in a day or two :D

I had my rigs running with 50/50 but there were too many WU's that were sitting at 0% done with several hours on them. Sorry guys but I took my rigs off, I don't like wasted time.

As I again begin another attempt to organize "the basement", I've been loading the Enigma BOINC client on the machines that are "worth" running it on(the whole electricity cost issue). So you should see my numbers climb substantially very soon. ;)

Boinc has never reported the process of my WUs. Whenever I mouse-over the systray icon, it shows 4 WUs (quadcore) all at 0.00%. I think it's a problem with this particular project. But my machine is definitely crunching and pumping out some good work :)

I'm not sure if this is what you were talking about, bluestrobe, but you might want to test it by seeing if work is being sent in each day.

The only problem I had was one of my computers wasn't retrieving work and processing work. I think it might have been related to the computer name, because I had another computer with the same name at a different location. I don't know for sure, though. I changed the computer name, gave it a reboot, and it works fine now. So it looked like a fluke.

Other than that, my other machines seem to be processing fine. Now I just need to OC some of them some more :p I also need to test out that "optimized" client and see if it's worth using. I've just been too lazy to fuxor with all the files.

Edit: Wow!!! Looks like we're in 7th place overall now!!!

It's this project. I had the same problem on all of my rigs. I pulled out of the project due to the issue.

It does appear to be a problem with the project -- the reporting of WU % done that is.

It's not really a big issue to me. The WUs finish fast enough anyways (the longest takes probably 3-4 hours). I'm actually glad it doesn't work, or I'd probably be mouse-over-ing it all the time to see :p

The project works fine tho. I just updated to the experimental client, so hopefully I'll see a speed increase! I'll have to update all my athlon boxes one of these days.

If you ever feel like coming back and forgetting about the little WU % complete reporting problem, bluestrobe, we'd love to have ya back helping us!

Nice result in such a short time. Great work.

To stimulate the Enigma team of TA a bit, here is the article about this project I was talking about. It took me a bit longer than expected, but better late then never. :p

You can select between english and dutch in the right upper corner.

Thanks for the article link, Peter. :) I can pass this along to some friends that I've told about the project - hopefully they'll join TA in our efforts.

As for the folks following the stats, my intent is to join the "big boys" very soon -- am at 3.2k and still climbing so watch out! :D

It is not really a "problem", Enigma is based on the M4 Project, a DC project with its own client.
The guy who runs the project is a DC fan who sends out the classic client using boinc wrapper. So M4 gets a bigger marketshare.
A similar project is YOTO@Home.

hmm, I added a 4800+ 2 hours ago and reinstalled boinc on my server and neither have gotten any work yet.

I am really beginning to hate boinc again. I hate that deferred communication crap.
