Enhance ATX-730 - good for Athlon XP 1700?

I have a Fong Kai case, power supply is an Enhance ATX-730 300 watt power supply. Does anybody have experience to know wheter or not this ps will work on an Athlon XP 1700+? I would think that it would, it's a quality supply. But I don't know for sure.

Thanks guys

It's NOT AMD rated for that XP1700+, but they will sometimes run ok if your not overloaded with drives and accessories .........
It's sure worth a try since you already have it.......... ?
The Enhance ENP-0730 300W is actually higher (AMD approved) rated for all of the AMD cpu's ...........!
Apparently the important wattage rating for Athlons/Palamino's is the combined 3V + 5V rail and the ENP-0730 is up to 220W ............ higher than most 300W PSU's.

I have two SPI 300W PSU's with the same part # (except the last letter) and one is rated 200W (combined 3V & 5V) and to my surprise, the other one is rated at only 150W ............. ! ?
The combined Watt rating should be on the nomenclature sticker on any high quality PSU!

If you have to have a definate yes or no answer, then the answer is probably NO the Enhance ATX-730 will not work properly as it is only AMD Approved for Athlons rated up to 1.G ............

You can go here and do the research for yourself: AMD Approved PSU's

I was hoping somebody would know for sure if that PSU will work or not. I'm using the guts that are in it now for another pc. So before I go and buy another case, I was hoping to know if I need to buy a new case for my old stuff I currently have ... or if I need one for the XP 1700 system I'm building. See what I mean? If I buy a new case for my old stuff, and then it turns out that the Enhance PSU isn't up to snuff, I'll have to spend a lot more money than I would otherwise.

Certainly somebody has tried to use this PSU on an Athlon XP setup .. I see lots of guys with Fong Kai cases.

My system isn't particularly overloaded (check my specs) but I haven't had a single crash with WinXP-Pro, my FK case (with Enhance ATX-730 300W PS) and my 1700+.

Thanks man ... I'm getting ready to give mine a shot right now. Will report the results.

Seems to be working great! Up about 12 hours so far with no hickups.

Soyo Dragon mobo
Athlon XP 1700+, now running at FSB of 145 with really crappy small heatsink
256 MB Kingston ValueRam, Nanya chips - seems to overclock just fine
Visontek Ti200 GF3 running at 220 core/525 mem 😀
FongKai 320 case - Fans 2 92mm, 1 120mm
... other stuff

So the answer is this PSU works just fine.

Don't know if anybody cares or not ... but here's more info. Looks like I spoke to soon. The 3.3 + 5v combined output on this PSU is 165 watts. I've been getting a few intermittent glitches, video problems mostly. But even a couple times my CD wouldn't read. So tomorrow I'm going to pickup an Antec PP403X while they're on sale at CompUSA for $50. That should do the trick. Running so many fans in my system probably doesn't help ... that 120mm is a current hog.
