Security guards in KFC are rare, just in the really shit parts of London.

I think you misunderstood the point I was making, it's OK.

Why would tourist bother with the bad part of town? I guess they could have been lost. Don't think things would have been much different in the US if the situation arose other than possibly the guy getting tasered when he tried to get out of the partial cuffs.

Ha, yeah I can imagine. I do wonder why that guy was there, if he was looking for the theatre as he said in the post, then he'd want to be in the west end... Not in peckham or some shit area.

until i see a video with sound of this event im calling bullshit. its great how the author used the typical sterotypes to make his story.

fat racist americans from texas, crude, disrespectful of authority and ignorant rednecks who travel to London to see musicals and happen to get lunch in a KFC in a shitty part of london that just so happens to have a security guard on staff and 3 cops eating lunch.

up pure fucking fiction.

Obviously, because I’m writing this in a rather public place, not everything I write is completely, 100% ‘the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth’. Some of the stories I cannot tell you because there are active investigations in progress. Others, I must amend slightly because I don’t want to put my colleagues at risk by revealing operationally sensitive information. Most importantly, I really like my job, and I don’t want to get sacked.

When you are in the movies, you’ll sometimes see a film that is “Based on actual events”. That’s a good way to look at this as well: Everything I write could have happened the way I’ve written about it, but I guess I’ll be the only one who knows exactly what happened, and how. Nonetheless, I hope you learn a couple of things you didn’t know about the police, about how we work, and about the things that occasionally go horribly wrong

even the author admits they're exaggerated stories 'based' on a piece of truth.

probably the only thing TRUE about the story was a texan in a kfc. everything else is artistic licence.

Please enlighten us with what point you were trying to make?

...

I thought you guys might find this interesting after the whole "Tram Moron" thread from the other day.

...

It's an article written by a london police officer. I know it's a bit long. But it's quite a good read, while I know this American isn't representative of all americans, it's relevant to the thread from the other day as the two of them argue about the differences in freedom of speech law, and the office obviously knows more about it than me and the other English guys who were talking about it the other thread.

Yeah that was discussed on the previous page.

Agreed. I thought it was an interesting article. I'm sure a couple of people are taking that away from this thread :)

The point is it is representative of the laws in the UK, and it explains them well. It's also an interesting story. What more do you want?

Except it's already been established that the exact same thing would have happened in America given the same fictional circumstances...and considering it's a "story" the argument likely never happened...

Cool. I didn't say it was completely different to what happens in America did I? I said it demonstrates the differences in laws. Which it does.

Maybe just write about the differences rather than make up a story that perpetuates stereotypes?

And it's really not "interesting"...it's inflammatory

In the end, at best, it's a story about rude ignorant customers with some sideways American bashing from the OP.

Our family has run entertainment/retail businesses for the last 100 years and the above would elicit little more than a yawn. Call me when someone's been stabbed or a building set on fire.

Really? I thought you guys had some kind of free speech law that protected you saying anything except threats and shouting fire in a crowded building...

You thought wrong. This fat bastard would have been hauled in. These UK officers were much nicer than he would have gotten from the majority of our law enforcement around the country. ESPECIALLY if he used the N-word against a black officer. He probably would have gotten pepper sprayed and/or tased for that offense given his described demeanor during the encounter.

My point was that most of you are fucking dumb or dense. It was like the first sentence in my post. Duh!!

Don't worry though. I don't expect you guys to understand given what my point was.
