English laws concerning Rape

I find it odd that in the UK, statutory rape of someone under 16 only carries a max sentence of 2 years; while Buggery (between a man and a woman), even if the woman consents carries a sentence of life in prison. Does this strike anyone else as odd?

Link to the laws regarding rape in the UK.

Must be because I grew up in the US. :disgust:

those english guys i tell you they are a funny people ..they even talk english weird and stuff and call the elevator , the lift and pants knickers, and cigarettes fags...i mean wtf is up with that😛

Note that for under 13 however, it can become life in prision. Seems like this is their method for dealing with the "Romeo & Juliet" senario.

Yup, waiting till her birthday makes all the difference.

Many acts of serious sexual violence against women will come into the category of indecent assault rather than rape, because they do not involve penetration of the vagina by the penis e.g. penetration of the vagina by any other object such as a bottle or a ringed hand.

does this seem a little backwards to anyone else?

I'm not saying that it does, I'm just pointing out that the max is not 2 years no matter the age, it can be for life if the female is not teenage.

Yes, and I'm saying as soon as she turns 13, she's no longer protected. Its now only 2 years max. Crazy, only 2 years max. I don't like it. I think 13 is way too young to be taken advantage of.
