Went to a beer tasting last night to benefit a few of the local Christmas charities. We had some great beers to taste, including Ommegang Rare Vos, Orval, Bitburger, Arrogant Bastard (omg hops!), a dark Hefe (can't remember the name) and other classics.

One of the beers I tasted for the first time was Fuller's ESB (Extra Special Bitter) which bills itself as the "original" ESB beer. Wow. Just wow! I've always been a fan of dark English ales and stouts, but this is something special. A crisp, clean pour without excessive head, easy on the palate, with just enough complexity to keep things interesting. This is a beer that defines the term "beef and bottle" as this would go great with roast beef. During the auction that followed I paid $30 for a 6-pack of the ESB. Yeah, its for the kids.

I also lucked out and scored a keg of Harpoon pale ale for tailgating at the Bills Jets game tomorrow! :)

Now you just have to unplug your fridge so you can drink it at the proper English tempurature, unless you already have a fridge made by Lucas Electrics (the prince of darkness).

Well I could just leave it in my car...since we've been averaging 52 degrees over the last few days.

i used to have to drive to the one in encinitas which was is 15-20 minutes away. but just yesterday was the grand opening of bevmo oceanside.

so now i have a bevmo on the 76. everything i could ever ask for is on the 76 now. it has: (2)best buy's, staples, frys, compusa, circuit city, (2) costco's, sams club, (2) in-n-outs, office depot, shopping mall, (2) community colleges, (1) state college, krispy kreme, countless microbrews and pubs, stone brewery and now a bevmo... all in a stretch of about 15 miles.

and its 1/2 the housing price of San Diego :)

bevmo ships too right? so you can still get your beer/wine/liquor/cordials/bubbly deliver at your door.
however, i do prefer driving there to get it than risking the mailman stealing my beer :)

yes they do. but im worried about those same risks, plus i like to order online and see what their in-store inventory is like and then place an order for pickup. its cool because now i dont have to pay almost 9 bucks for a 4-pack of boddingtons. bevmo encinitas always had it a few bucks cheaper but i figured what i would spend in gas offset those few extra bucks. but thats no longer a concern now! :D
