American engineers = German engineers

It is very likely that the engineers in both country are a good as each others, but the manufactures, midle-men, stock-holders, and consumers is the one to blame. Because, the consumers are cheap skate and the midle-men/manufactures/stock-holders only concern about profits.

I say German. They would be better at any disciplined, academic approach to engineering. I'm an American engineer. In our defense, we Americans would be better at what our bosses would perceive to be our responsibilities. That usually means our resourcefulness and responsiveness to the needs of our customers and the desires of our superiors. Americans are more innovative and are probably more capable of considering "non-engineering" solutions to a problem in general.

Tell me about it Nick..that's what the Ford engineers did to remedy a problem with the Explorer's handling...they just suggested to underinflate the tires a bit.....Creative Engineering it's called somewhat akin to Creative Bookkeeping...
