Engine Code on Grandam

I just had to clear the engine warning for the 3rd time on the grandam over the last 6 months. It is showing a misfire on cylinder 1.

Is this going to be something as simple as changing out the plugs or something more to worry about?

I just had the same problem with my civic. I had just changed the plugs.. so it had to be the wires. Wires did fix the problem. Wires + plugs should be cheap.

What year and is it the 3.1?

change the plugs, inspect the wires (check the resistance, make sure it's in spec), and then change the coils. The coils do go bad but with the cost you don't want to replace them unless you have to.

V6? How many miles? If plugs and wires don't do it I'd next suspect the injector on that cylinder.

The coils in my 3.1 Grand Prix used to eat up wires fairly quick. It was to the point one time I thought my transmission was going out because it was stuttering up hills. Opened up the hood one night, then turned off the lights. I had a half dozen neon lights under the hood. $40 in wires later, it ran great. Start there.
