engagement rings... metalwork

Hey all

My girlfriend loves rings with fantastic metalwork. I have NO knowledge of metalwork. I know about the 4c's of diamonds and all that jazz, but I cannot find info on good metal work. When I ask her for more information the only response is "you know...like the old rings..."

I am in the dark here. What constitutes interesting and beautiful metaalwork on rings (esp. engagement rings?) She doesn't like big rocks, but she likes great metal...

help a guy out!

I would inquire at antique stores and similar places that can always be found "downtown", wherever that may be. While planning a recent very rare form on engraving/metalwork, the store workers/owners were a lot of help.

Antique Engagement Rings <---- Try this out. They make recreations of antique rings. I just had them make me a mounting a few weeks ago. I was definitely pleased with the workmanship.

You could check out http://www.diamondtalk.com, there are knowledgeable people there.

I know there are some contemporary ring designers that have a lot of intricate metalwork, such as Tacori and many others.
