Engagement ring help...

I've already got the diamond picked out (I'm not mentioning cause my GF might read the forums 🙂), but I'm looking around at the bands, and I have no idea what to get. They all look nice 🙂

Should I go 6 prong or 4? Both look nice.
Solitaire seems to be simple and attractive. Some of the other bands with diamond channel seem kinda bukly (from the pics at least)...

I'm not setting a price range at the moment, so if you guys can find something, point it out to me and I'll take a look.

Okay, this is an area in which your opinions just plain don't count.

What's important is what SHE likes, and wheter or not you like it is totally immaterial.

Take her ring shopping (for fun) to get an idea of what kind of band she likes.

Bingo...

In GENERAL:

4 prong is OK on stronger metals. Like Platinum.

With softer metals (14K+ Gold) 6prong is recommended so you don't loose the diamond.

Type of band and quality, etc, are all factors, so there's going to be exceptions.

So much info, do a google search... better question here would be where did you buy your diamond, and are you happy with the purchase.

And of course, you're about to hear a lot about the DaBeers gang.

I will probably take her out to look at bands. I know its really her choice (she doesnt get to know what the diamond looks like though 🙂)

I guess I'm just asking you guys what you personally like.

i got a 4 prong platinum with 2 baguettes on the side that my wife absolutely loves. it's different from the traditional solitaire but still looks like a classic.

Let me restate: it doesn't matter what we like. 🙂

She's going to be showing it off for the rest of her life. Get what SHE likes.

Wife has a platinum band. 4 prong. Very solid...

We bought a ~$99 insurance thing w/ the ring set. It covers adjustments/resizings and cleaning FOREVER. We've already made our money back on that investment. In fact, we'll probably come out ahead soon versus buying from a 'discount place'.

We bought from a division of Stirling Jewelry, which is a company that fronts many of the 'mall stores' (like KAY) as well as the place we bought ours 'Jared's'. They have their own repair center onsite so we don't even have to wait long to get it back (a few hours at most!). We can go to other states and get it serviced/cleaned/adjusted at any of the family of stores as well... under warranty.

$99?? any good jewelry store will do all that for you for free. Most store will give free cleaning(some will do a sh*tty job those, esp those mall stores) even if you didn't buy the ring from them.

Take Noggin's advice - it's right on the money.
