I've been planning on proposing early next year, and I've been keeping my eye open for a good deal on a ring. I've recently found this engagement ring:

1.5 ct. Solitare with side stones
Center stone: 1ct princess cut
GIA Certified
GIA clarity: SI2
JIA Color: J-K
Metal: 14K white gold

Price: $3750

What do you guys think?

You left out the most important spec which is "Cut" which is usually denoted two ways on most certificates. Excellent/Very Good/Good,etc... then in the actual stats of the diamond which list the specific dimensions of the stone in percentages of the total height. For instance 74% table, table being the flat area on the top of the stone.

Cut is the most important spec because the dimensions of the stone determine how much light it collects and reflects (Bling factor) for each cut of diamond there are theoretical "perfect" specs and how far a particular stone varies from this standard is the most important factor in determining the value.

Assuming a good to very good cut thats an OK retail price but certainly nothing special, but if it happens to be a near perfect cut that would be a really good deal.
