Enforced Coat Check

I went to a concert last night, and when we get in to the venue they required everyone with a jacket to go stand in the coat check line and pay $4 to check their coats. I would normally leave it in the car, but it was quite cold last night so I figured I could hold it at the show. That was a no go. It seemed like they must have made a killing from this alone, anyone else experience this?

Was it mandatory mandatory?

I went to a club once (and only time) and thought I had to, but saw people walk in with their huge coats.

Dude, it's four bucks not to have to deal with your coat for two hours. WTF?
Are you this crabby with these kids?

You couldn't wear it?

I could've, but a wool winter jacket in a hot club like environment doesn't work for me.

Really, OP should expose the venue.

It was "The Mid" in Chicago, terribly packed, wouldn't recommend it.

I was being forced to check it, it's something I have never experienced. I would've checked it anyways, but I thought it was shitty that they required it.
