I'm considering getting this fan, but only if it IS actually rated at 30.1 dBA. It is the Enermax UC-12FAB-B, 120x25mm, Clear Ultra-Cool Speed Dial, 94.92CFM fan. The only problem is the noise rating is not the same in 3 different places.

Sidewinder Computers rates the fan at 43.6 dBA

Newegg rates the fan at 30.1 dBA
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-999-012&depa=0

And, Enermax also rates it at 30.1 dBA

Based on this information, I would just say it's at 30.1 dBA, but other fans of similar size are rated in the 40's. And, yes, I know it's adjustable but I'm only concerned about the higher CFM/dBA rating. Anyone know for sure who's right? Thank you.

Enermax says it's 30dB.
That's not true.
The 24dB at low is probably right, as it gets quiet (though still has some motor noise), but when it it revs up, it gets very loud.

43.6 db at the high speed sounds about right.

they arent going to magically make a fan that does 95cfm that is significantly quieter than the other ones on the market (and db is logarithmic scale as well). I think 63cfm should be more in the 30db range (panaflo ~65cfm 120x38mm fans are 30-31db).

Actually this fan seems to push more than most at the low speeds, but having used it in my PC...it does so in free air. If you have a big intake (or use it as an intake fan), you're fine, but this fan doesn't take well to backpressure (one of the things Panaflo fans do well with, part of why I recommend them so often--one of these days I might find out what causes those various properties).
Also the dB rating might account for lack of precision in the pots they use (which wouldn't suprise me one bit), taking the lower dB rating, even if many fans end up spinning faster and pushing more air.

It's a quality fan, and I might get one again if I have a need, but tanstaafl.

e-mailed newegg marketing about the wrong value, but they haven't changed it yet. I guess all you can do is tell them. I'll just turn it down with the fan controller; that's why I got it isn't it, hehe?!
