I am just about ready to buy an Enermax 330W PSU from CaseOutlet.com for $70 shipped. Anyone know of any better alternative for a quiet PSUs (or better price, for that matter)? The Silencer line (the only other ones I know of) at PCpowerandcooling is way more expensive for less power...

I have the Enermax 430Watt and it's plenty quiet for the average person.
Not silent, but it is very quiet. My CPU fan is far louder, and my CPU fan is a YSTech 26cfm, considered to be middling loudness.

The QuietPC.com 300watt is the quietest, but they are in the UK, and overseas shipping on something the weight of a PSU is going to be ugly.

Enermex, Sparkle, and PC Power and Cooling are some of the best. That price you have is really good so I don't think you'll find much better.

QuietPC looks awesome. Silent!! Is there any way for me to test to see how loud my HSF fan is by itself (w/o a power supply)? I have an alpha pal6035 with Sanyo fan (which is supposed to be quiet). I maaaaay just purchase their 250W PSU for $105 shipped if my HSF isn't too loud.

I suppose I could just unscrew the fan and try it on another motherboard to see what it sounds like.

No, those are pre-order (waiting until the next shipment comes in off the boat).

I just found Pham Computer which sells the Whisper EG285P-VE (FC) for $54 shipped. This looks like the best deal so far as long as it's enough juice. Will the 285W (276W average, whatever that means) be able to run my system okay? Would it still work if I upgraded in 6 months to a 1.2GHz 266 chip? Just want to make sure that when I'm dropping $50 on a PSU I'll be able to use it for a while. (I don't really care how much power I have as long as it works. I know there's a big "mine is bigger than yours" effect with PSUs, but I could care less about that. $15 is $15... that's 1 1/2 Panaflo's! ;))
