What is the difference between these model PS's?
The AX-VE's are more expensive, but I can't really see why.

No, I guess I'm wrong. This page says there are both AX and P in 2.0.

From this page the only difference I see is active PFC. That and the AX comes in a 600.

Thanks guys. But can you explain the real world difference between passive/active for this application? That means nothing to me right now.

yeah , I did my research and got the passive pfc. They charge too much extra money for active pfc where that feature should either be included without the additional charge or charge less since it is there to benefit the electrical company with non-disturbance on the return electrical signal to them.

This is the PS that I got :

POWER< SP|485W(P4)EG495P-VE SFMA N82E16817103457 12/23/2004 5:41:16 PM 1 $95.99

It was actually cheaper when I bought it. Look here :
ENERMAX Noisetaker 485W Power Supply, Support LGA 775, Model "EG495P-VE SFMA 2.0 Version" -RETAIL

So does having "active" actually improve performance or make it more reliable?

neither. all it does is have the power companies have less distortion on their feed back from consumers.
